Kathleen R. Meckes passed away on
Monday, August 13, 2018, at Manor Care, Laureldale, after an extended illness.
Born October 21, 1950, in Reading, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Malcolm and Doris (Silsdorf) Meckes.
She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Marjory (Behler) Meckes.
Survivors include: sister, Karen L., wife of Carlin I. Taney Jr., Blandon; brother, Kenneth J. Meckes, Angola, N.Y.; niece, Cherish (Meckes) Masocco, Angola, N.Y.; nephew, Roger B. Taney and wife, Donna (Thom), Blandon; grandnephews: Christopher J. Taney, Blandon; Michael and Trevor Masocco, Angola, N.Y.
A 1968 graduate of Kutztown Area High School, she
attended Penn State University for 2 years. She was a
Sunday School teacher and junior church leader at Grace Evangelical Church, Kutztown, in her youth. She was a
current member of Fleetwood Bible Church; active in their Widows and Friends Group prior to her illness. During her time at Grace E. C. Church she was the area coordinator for the Friendship Bible Coffees in Kutztown, Topton and Fleetwood, and was also active in the Christian Women's Clubs of the area.
At that time she became interested in full time service. In February, 1978, she moved to Kansas City, Mo., and became a national representative for Stonecroft Ministries. She continued in missionary service for 14 years. She was the executive director for the Association for the Blind and
Visually Impaired of the Lehigh Valley from April, 1997 to 2009. During that time she was a board member of the Pennsylvania Association of the Blind. Due to medical problems, including partial loss of vision, she had to retire. Burial was held in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown, at the
convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Fleetwood Bible Church, 2847 Moselem Springs Rd, Fleetwood.

At least Kathy isn't suffering anymore. We knew Kathy for years. I helped her & Jimmy made the ramp for the front of her house. RIP Kathy.
