Wednesday, September 19, 2018, in
Westminster Village at Allentown.
She was the wife of Charles L. Sowers, who died December 9, 1999.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Mildred (Keener) Schlappich. Ruth was a self-employed beautician. She was a member of the former Jaycee Wives and the Shoemakersville Park Committee. Ruth enjoyed traveling, cross stitch and crocheting.
Ruth is survived by her son, Harry L. Sowers, and his wife Susan, Fleetwood; granddaughter, Stacy Sowers; brother, Arthur Schlappich, and his wife, Elizabeth,
Shoemakersville; niece, Tammy Kohl, and her husband,
David; and nephew, Lee Schlappich, and his wife, Kim.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018, from Leibensperger Funeral Homes Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Birch Hill Cemetery, Perry Twp. A visitation with the family will be held on Monday in the funeral home, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Borough of Shoemakersville, Park or Pool programs, 115 E. 9th Street, Shoemakersville, PA 19555. Harry, sorry to hear about your mom's passing. I knew her since about 1976. She was first my hairdresser and then became a good friend. We enjoyed several timeshare vacations with her. She will never be forgotten.

I have known Ruth since the first grade. She always had a great sense of humor and was very kind. I haven't seen her in years, but I am sure those who are close to her will miss her tremendously. I would like to extend my condolences to the whole family.
