Joyce Ruthy Taylor, 82, of Leesport, passed away on

Saturday, January 12, 2019, in her residence, surrounded by her children.

Born in LaGrange, Ill., on November 22, 1936, she was the youngest daughter of the late Louis C. and Alice A. (Rowe) Ruthy. She was a graduate of Lyons Township High School and a 1958 graduate of Carroll College of Waukesha, Wis. She also attended Michigan State University and the

University of Madrid.

A lifelong teacher, Joyce made a difference in countless lives, teaching English as a second language and GED classes through Reading Area Community College. She also taught English at Colegio Peterson in Mexico City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd A. Taylor; and her sister, Joan Klaus.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Lou "Emel" McCrillis. She is also survived by two sons, Michael Ruthy and Luke Taylor; two daughters, Amy Moriarty (Taylor) and Kendel Taylor; six grandchildren: Stephen and Allen Ruthy,

Patrick, Fiona, Molly and Connor Moriarty; and five nieces: Cynthia, Susan, Anna, Robin and Tracy.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. from Leibensperger Funeral Homes Inc., 223 Peach St., Leesport. Burial will follow in Leesport Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
