Julia Margaret Purcell Burke (July 28, 1940-January 1, 2019) was born into a loving Irish Catholic family in Reading, Pa., to John and Katherine (Garrigan) Purcell.

Her family belonged to St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Reading. Julia

graduated from Central Catholic in 1958. Early in her

career as an accountant, she worked in Valley Forge for the GE Space Science Laboratory, and later, after moving to Phoenix in 1971, for Motorola's semi-conductor group. The capstone of her career at Motorola was traveling around the world training accounting groups in preparation for Y2K.

Julia was a lifelong devout Catholic, participating as a member in a variety of religious communities. As a young woman in Philadelphia, she was engaged in apostolic work with the Legion of Mary. After moving to her beloved "big sky" Arizona, she was baptized in the Holy Spirit and

became a member of the City of the Lord Catholic

Charismatic Community in Tempe, where she treasured sharing everyday life with brothers and sisters in Christ. In later years, she joined the Women's Sodality at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Phoenix.

She will be best remembered for her selfless love,

especially for the beautiful way she raised her only

daughter, Beth, and for her devotion to her husband of 20 years, Miles Burke, who will miss her greatly.

She is survived by her husband, Miles, Miles' children: Jim (Sue) Burke (Phoenix, Ariz.), Maria Robert (Glendale, Ariz.) and Joe Burke (Phoenix, Ariz.); her daughter, Beth Purcell Kabele (Portland, Ore.); her son-in-law, Daniel Kabele; and her five grandsons: Peter, Stephen, Luke, James and Benjamin Kabele, whom she loved so dearly. She is also survived by her sisters Mary (J. Richard) Thren (Blandon, Pa.), Mollie Purcell (Gilbert, Ariz.), Katherine (Lawrence) Klick (Chandler, Ariz.), Nancy (Charlotte Fiorieto) Purcell (San Francisco, Calif.); and brother,

William Purcell (Sinking Spring, Pa.).
