His most proud accomplishment and time cherished he would consistently share was his devotion to his marriage of 52 years to Ruth Helen (Adams) Heffley. Donald passed away peacefully at his home on July 2, 2017.
Born 1/29/27, son of the late Ralph S. and Edith M. (Fister) Heffley. Donald had 7 siblings: Malcom P. Heffley, Priscilla E. (Heffley) Messick, Ralph A. Heffley, Elaine E. (Heffley) Musser, Lowell W. Heffley, Colin P. Heffley and David P. Heffley.
He was a graduate of Kutztown High School in 1944, later enlisting in basic training in Mississippi with the Army Air Force Reserve. He attended the University of Pittsburgh and Penn State for Basic Engineering. He graduated holding a certificate as a B-29 Crew Chief Instructor.
Donald later became a rural Mail Carrier, 1951, in Lenhartsville, Pa. retiring in 1982. Donald and his late wife, Ruth H. (Adams) Heffley, resided most of their married life in Fleetwood, Pa. They later purchased property in Edgewater, Fla., residing at both locations for many years to later settle full-time at their home in Edgewater, Fla.
Donald's civic contributions consisted of Past President of Berks Co. Rural Mail Carriers Assn., Past President and Member of the Church Council at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Member of American Legion Post Commanders, Past Master Huguenot Lodge No. 377 F & AM, Past President of the Ontelaunee Club Consistory in the Valley of Reading, Member of Rajah Temple Valley of Reading Rajah Shrine Club, Past President of the JayCees, Vice President of Kutztown Temple Association.
Most dear to Donald's heart was his daughter, grand-children and great-grandchildren; daughter, the late Dianne A. (Bedard) Williams; grandchildren, Rhonda S. Frizzell and Brian D. Williams; great-grandchildren, Morgan A. Colley, Ella D. Williams and Spencer D. Williams.
Services will be held in Fleetwood, Pa. at the Fleetwood Cemetery at a later date to celebrate Donald's life.
In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to the Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia County at 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
