Liliane de la Vaux

1927 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Liliane Marguerite de la Vaux 1927 - 2017 It is with great sadness that the family of Liliane announces her passing on Monday, October 16, 2017, at the age of 90 years. Liliane was born in Tonnerre, France, February 5, 1927, to Jeanne Daloz and Louise Perron. When Lili was 13 years old, in June 1940, Tonerre was bombed by the Germans. The people of Tonnerre suffered under German occupation until the Americans bombed the city in May 1944 and subsequently liberated France. Lili told of the constant hunger during those years and, because of that, always said she so appreciated good food and wine. Lili married Ingo de la Vaux in 1945 in Paris, France, at the close of World War II. Ingo was a U.S. government construction engineer under the U.S. Air Force, working throughout Europe during the war. After working with the post-war recovery effort, Ingo brought Liliane home to Los Angeles in 1947, and they settled for a time in the San Fernando Valley. In 1952, they returned to Paris, France, and over the next twenty-plus years, Ingo and Lili traveled between and lived in the United States, France, Spain, Brazil, and Mexico. Lili and Ingo moved to the Clear Lake area in the mid-1980s, finally settling in Lucerne in 1989. She loved animals and always left water out for the birds and deer and bought food for stray cats. Lili was preceded in death by her husband, Ingo. She is survived by her brother-in-law, John de la Vaux; nieces, Marguerite Dolan, Johnette Deane, Chalya Castagna, Sharon Ryan, and Jeneace O'Brien; and nephew, Douglas de la Vaux. Lili leaves behind many special friends and neighbors who supported and helped her through her years at Lucerne and her final illness. Thank you to all of you. No services will be held. "Repose en paix notre pr‚cieuse Lili" Rest in peace our precious Lili. Please share your memories by signing the guest book at www.legacy.com.
