Allen Bulmer, 96, departed this life on February 18, 2021 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara (Briggs) Bulmer. Allen, the youngest of seven siblings, was born in Bridgeport, CT to the late Francis and Caroline (Slater) Bulmer on March 5, 1924.
He attended Bridgeport High School and then proudly served in the Navy during WWII after graduation. He graduated from Central Connecticut State College and was employed at the International Silver Company, and Haviland China of LA Moshe France as well as owning a gift shop in Branford, CT called "Bulmer's Fine Gifts".
Allen was a dedicated parishioner of the First Congregational Church and enjoyed serving as a deacon, usher, member of the stewardship committee as well as several other committees. He was also one of the longest standing members of the Wallingford Freemasons Compass Lodge #9 and actively attended meetings and events until his death. In Wallingford, he served on the Republican Town Committee, on the Board of Tax Review and as a Selectman.
A proud father, grandfather and great grandfather, he loved spending time with his family. One of his greatest joys was watching sports in person and on TV, especially the women's and men's CT basketball teams. Allen was an independent minded, generous, and very faithful person. Growing up during the Depression in the 1930s, he hated to see anything wasted.

Karen and Jennifer, I was so sorry to learn of your dad’s passing. I always admired him, he was always smiling and had a good word to say about everyone.
