John A. Galonski, Sr.

MERIDEN - John A. Galonski, Sr., 88, of Meriden, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford. He was the beloved husband of the late Marcia J. (Danby) Galonski

He was born in Kane, Pa., a son of the late Anthony and Mary (Lek) Galonski and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Galonski had been employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and the Town of Wallingford Public Works Department for several years until his retirement. He was an active member of the First Congregational Church for many years.

He is survived by three daughters, Mary P. Doolittle and her husband, Gary and Susan J. Galonski, all of Meriden and Teresa A. Galonski and Liz Beninato, of Enfield; two sons, Timothy J. Galonski and his wife, Melissa, of Durham and David P. Galonski, of San Francisco, Calif.; his eight grandchildren, Jennifer Ghidini, Stephanie Galonski, Jason Galonski, Amy Doolittle, Rachel Doolittle, Timothy J. Galonski, Jr., Nadine Martin, and Katlyn Cafro; his 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce C. Galonski; a son, John A. Galonski, Jr.; two sisters, Dorothy McIe and Helen Landa; and his brother, Felix Galonski.

John's family would like to extend their thanks for all the kindness and care of the nurses, doctors and social workers of
Masonicare Health, especially Wooster 4.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main Street, Ext., Wallingford, Sunday, Aug. 9, from 3 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held directly at the First Congregational Church of Wallingford, Monday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford.
