Dr. John L. Fiore
April 23, 1952 - May 30, 2019
Warwick, NY
Dr. John L. Fiore of Warwick, NY passed away on May 30, 2019 with his loving wife by his side. He was 67 years old.
Born in Baltimore, MD on April 23, 1952, he was one of ten children of the late Vincent and Mary (Hagarty) Fiore.
He was a graduate of St. Francis University, Loretto, PA and received his medical degree from the University of Maryland Medical School, Baltimore, MD. He completed his internship at Westchester Medical Center and his residency at Hackensack Medical Center. He was a Certified Medical Director with certifications in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Hospice/Palliative Care.
Dr. Fiore dedicated 38 years of medical care to the Warwick community and was recently made an honorary member of the medical staff at St. Anthony Community Hospital. He came to Warwick under the United States Public Health Service Corps in 1981 and continued in private practice until 2008, when he became the Medical Director of Schervier Pavilion and Mt. Alverno Center. He was also the Medical Director of Middletown Park Manor and Montgomery Nursing Home. He was beloved by his residents and staff and was lovingly referred to as the "Silver Fox".
John was a devoted family man, and he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, relatives and friends, especially in Bethany Beach, DE. He was a long time parishioner of St. Stephen RC Church and coached basketball at St. Stephen's School for many years. He also enjoyed his green 1970 E type Jaguar and homemade cherry pies, and he was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles.
John is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara (Maloney); their five children and eight grandchildren: Lisa Fiore and her children Ian and Chloe and their father, Amaury Dosogne of Warwick; John Fiore and husband, Matthew Anderson and their daughter Nora of Cambridge, MA; Thomas Fiore and wife, Kali and their children Jack and Mason of Pine Island, NY; Deborah Bryant and husband, William and their children Caroline, Sara and Eleanor of Wilmington, DE; and Peter Fiore and wife, Rachel of Circleville, NY; and eight siblings: Margaret Dudik, Patrick Fiore, Kathleen Adcock, Theresa Fiore, Michael Fiore, Vincent Fiore, Francis Fiore, and Joseph Fiore. He was predeceased by his sister, Maureen Brothers.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 2 from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 3 at St. Stephen RC Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick. Interment will follow the Mass in Warwick Cemetery.

Barbara,
I am so sorry to hear of your husband's passing. Although I didn't know him personally, I knew of him through your Aunt Anita. She spoke very highly of him as a person as well as an extraordinary physician. May God give you strength during this most difficult time.

How sad it is too think of the world without Dr. Fiore. I know he was a devout catholic and he's in a better place, with our Lord and Savior.. However having him here and just knowing such a good man and Doctor was around was a wonderful thing. Bar none, I've never met a MD who truly cared and thought of his Patients as people first, then Patients. He spent so much time really getting to know them, and he was genuinely sincere. We nurses would look for him at Schervier and if he was in with a new Patient, he would be some time, he never did the usual MD admission. One other special note about Dr Fiore was he never let his staff feel " stupid or less then him" I remember calling him in the middle of the night regarding a Patient and I couldn't pronounce half of the wording in the paperwork about the Patient. Here it is probably 3am, I woke Mrs Fiore, who couldn't have been nicer either, and he said too me, don't worry I can't pronounce half of that either. Just too make me feel better. He would always take his valuable time too teach us different medical jargon and reasonings, I can remember dozens of times he took time with all staff. I could write a message as long as " War and Peace" and it would all be positive about this great man, and he was! Your and will be sorely missed Dr Fiore, God Bless you and Mrs Fiore and your children. RIP...your wonderful smile is missed by all...

Sorry for your loss. I will always remember Dr. Fiore as not only a great doctor but a great and loving human being. I will alway remember how he saw my father leaving church one Sunday and he didn't look right, so Dr Fiore followed him home to check on him.

I had the privilege of working with Dr Fiore for four years , he was a kind and passionate person. He cared deeply about both the residents and employees at Mt Alverno. He would often tell me about his family and how much he enjoyed spending time with them. although we came from different backgrounds that was never an issue for Dr Fiore. he will be sorely missed

Mrs. Fiore and family,
I had the awesome privilege of speaking with and dealing with Dr Fiore for more then 20 years. He was always kind and thoughtful to all of us. I owned the answering service he and his partners used. No matter how many times we had to call Dr. Both he and Mrs. Fiore we're very polite and professional. You could tell what a gentle caring soul he was. God bless Dr., Mrs. Fiore and his large family.
Most Sincerely, Gary B. Cullen
