Chelsea Nancy Beitel
January 13, 1948 - March 14, 2021
Sarasota, FL
Chelsea passed away peacefully at home the early morning of March 14, 2021 after a long illness, with her husband, Richard and Golden Retriever, Bo by her side. She was born in the Chelsea section of the West Side, borough of Manhattan, New York City, and was named after her birth place. Her Mother, who passed away at the birth, was Nancy Haines, and her Father was Willard Roberson. Her middle name is Nancy in honor and memory of her Mom.
Chelsea had a unique childhood education, attending Rhodes Preparatory School in Manhattan, which today remains as a historic landmark, a one year study in Spain, and then attending Nyack High School, Nyack, New York, where she excelled in basketball. The family lived in Grand View-on-Hudson and she had a favorite dog, Pierre, a White Standard French Poodle, who she loved very much. She was an animal lover and enjoyed her time with horses, whereby she entered into show jumping, partaking in equestrian events. She later attended Central Connecticut State for two years.
She had her own flower delivery business serving various selected restaurants in the Cos Cob, CT area. Chelsea was hired by Warwick Valley High School, Warwick, New York, as a Computer Tech Aid, which was a new innovation at the School as a start-up program.
Her dedication to the students was special and they advanced very well under her instructions.
Chelsea is survived by her husband, Richard of 40 years marriage; her sons, Brooks Weaver of Los Angeles, CA and Colby (Lisa) Weaver of Newport Coast, CA, both from a prior marriage; daughters, Stacey Conklin of Ogdensburg, NJ and Terri Beitel of San Diego, CA, as she did not like the word "step," she thus considered them daughters of the family; grandson, Sam Weaver of Newport Coast, CA; granddaughter, Taylor Conklin of Sussex, NJ; grandson, Jonathan Conklin of Andover, NJ; brothers, Richard Roberson (partner Brenda) of Hewitt, NJ and Scott (Melissa) Griffith of Braverton, OR. She is predeceased by her parents; aunt, Patricia Haines Clark; brothers, Robert "Robie" Roberson and Christopher Griffith.
She loved the Gulf Coast and our home has many star fish, sand dollars, various shells and stones in the shape of a heart that she collected over many years. Chelsea requested no memorial services were to be held, and any contributions may be made to her favorite charity; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in honor and memory.
Her family was most important in her life, as she loved gatherings, particularly the Holidays of Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas - many enjoyable memories of the past. She loved the telephone calls from her family, as it was what she cherished, those special one-on-ones, just hearing their voices made her day. Family always came first.
Chelsea's cherished memories will forever live in our hearts.
