A very late greeting to a man I never got to meet.
Just a year before Fred so tragically passed away, we got in touch.
Fred was part of my family that emigrated from Sweden in the early 1900s and I have intensely tried to find my relatives in the USA.
Fred and I had a wonderful contact, it was as if we were brothers and I was planning a visit. Suddenly all contact ceased and it took more than a year before I found out what had happened.
It is presumptuous to say that he was a part of my life but the short contact we had he felt like a brother with the same interests.
I can only imagine how missing he is among relatives and friends.
A great consolation is that I inherited the contact with Fred's sisters who are my long-distance cousins in the fourth generation.
I want to give a lot of love to Fred's memory, his family and all friends.

I shared many Sierra Club kayak and hiking trips with Fred while he was living in San Antonio, Texas. We were also on many camping trips together, and chatted around the campfire lots of times. I was looking forward to getting over to Florida to do some paddling with him. I am sorry that he is gone, and will certainly miss his Christmas messages.

An additional farewell and blessings from Steve's wife, Pam Huff. We are both deeply saddened as we're sure your family is, by your departure. Pam still speaks of the time you spent with her on researching her ancestors.
Blessings to you and yours,
Steve and Pam Huff
