BOBI METCALF In Memoriam
Resized.bm.jpg" ALIGN="LEFT" vspace="4" hspace="10" style="max-width:130px;">BOBI METCALF Bobi Lynn Metcalf, born February 27th, 1935, to Shirley and Abner McKenzie died last week at the age of 82. She is survived by her two daughters, Melissa Metcalf and Marcey Olson, her brother Bert McKenzie, and three sisters, Gayle Pool, Hazel Brown and Scotty Ulch. Bobi's childhood years were spent in Westwood, California, where she helped her Dad herd hundreds of cattle to the Antelope Valley every summer. She graduated from Red Bluff High School in 1953, receiving a full ride scholarship to San Luis Obispo for music. But something magical happened in the summer of 1955 and rather than striving to become the next Carrie Underwood, she met a Real Cowboy by the name of Oscar Metcalf. The two were married December 15th, 1956 in Reno, Nevada and stayed together until Oscar's death in 2009. Bobi was best known for her 38 years as a teacher's aide and a coach for Berrendos Middle School, where the Antelope School District dedicated what is now known as The Bobi Metcalf Gymnasium in 2001. Bobi was also a fierce competitor, playing fast pitch softball for Tehama County's infamous team, The Stripettes, and coaching for the Lassen Rainbows. She lived in Red Bluff on Saint Marys Avenue for 54 years and will be remembered for her generous kind spirit...and her country strong heart. Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 15th, 2018 at 2pm at Red Bluff Cemetery off Walnut Street in Red Bluff.
