Charlie "Chuck" Holbrook Jan 25, 1944 ~ Jan 16, 2018 Charlie Laverne Holbrook of Paynes Creek, known to most as Chuck, died Tuesday, January 16 in his family's home. He was 73 years old. Born in Redding, on January 25, 1944, this loving father of three and veteran of the US Navy lived in various northern California communities throughout his years, including Paynes Creek, Redding, Red Bluff, Manton, Willow Creek, and his beloved camp at Deer Lick Springs. Known to people as a generous, gentle, fun-loving and supportive friend, he enjoyed camping, dancing, poetry, road trips, and was an avid supporter of several local community groups. He was a serving member of the Westside Grange. He is survived by: son Kenneth Holbrook, daughter Tina Holbrook, brothers Kenny and Joe, sisters Francie and Ann, numerous grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his sidekick dog "Flash." He was preceded in death by his daughter Cindy Holbrook, his brother Bud, and his sister Mildred (Millie.) His parents, John and Gladys of Manton both passed away in Red Bluff, in 1988 and 1978, respectively. Graveside services will be held at the Manton Cemetery at 11am on Saturday, February 10th, to be followed by a celebration of his life at the Manton Community Church Fellowship Hall. Arrangements are to be handled by Hoyt-Cole.
