Doreen Mildred Berridge In Memoriam
Doreen Mildred Berridge March 2, 1936 May 8, 2018 After courageously fighting cancer, Doreen Mildred Berridge lost the battle on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at her home in Redding California. She was 82 years old. Doreen was a beautiful, outgoing, and generous woman who touched the lives of many by reaching out to everyone she met with a smile and a warm thought. There was no one she would not talk to. A longtime resident of Red Bluff, Doreen leaves behind 3 daughters: Christine Klekman, Deanna Gunter, Jennifer Berridge, Son-in Law, Eric Gunter. Grandchildren: Makenna and Kyle Klekman, Tricia and Casey Gunter, Morgan and Kelsey Singleton, a brother, Gordon Johnson and his wife Lauren, nieces Sheree Gable, Rochelle Arlitt, Lindsey Heard, nephews Chris and David Johnson, 3 great nieces, 1 great nephew, and several cousins. Doreen's beloved husband Roy Derek Berridge preceded her in death in the year 2001, as well as her mother, father and sister. Doreen was born to Edward and Ina Johnson on March 2, 1936, in New Westminster, B.C. Canada. As a young girl she sadly moved away from her family in Canada to live with an Aunt and Uncle in California due to severe asthma/allergies. She grew up in Auburn, California, and attended Placer High School where she made lifetime friends and continued going to reunions for many years. After high school, Doreen then moved to Sacramento and attended college to become an Administrative Assistant. In 1957 she was a contender for "Miss Sacramento," then gained the title of "Miss Keep California Green" while working for the company. This is where she met her future husband Roy. She married Roy on December 23, 1961 and then set up their home in Red Bluff where they lived for many years. While raising 3 daughters, Doreen was involved with her community in many aspects, such as a board member for Cooperative Nursery School, and Children's Home Society. She worked for many years at the Tehama County Employment office in Red Bluff and continued her love and support to the Forest Products Industry for over 50 years. Doreen had a great love for her Canadian and American family and community. Most weekends the family was up in the mountains where she enjoyed boating and camping. She also enjoyed bridge, dancing, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She will be missed by many but will live on through memories we cherish. All are welcome to a Celebration of Life on Sunday, May, 20, 2018 Noon 3:00 p.m. Red Bluff Community Center 1500 Jackson Street Red Bluff, Ca. 96080 (530) 527-8177 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Mercy Foundation North 2625 Edith Ave, Suite E.
