Eileen Janice Corntassel Richardson
May 20, 1929 - May 3, 2021
Eileen Janice Corntassel Richardson went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 3, 2021, a few weeks shy of her 92nd birthday. Eileen was a Citizen of the Cherokee Nation and the great granddaughter of Cherokee Adam Corntassel who traveled from Georgia to Oklahoma on the Trail of Tears. Eileen was born May 20, 1929 in Butte, Montana to Robert Johnson Corntassel-Roberts and Floris Madeline Hilliard. The family moved to Spokane, Washington when she was 17 months old. She was the oldest of six siblings. Eileen graduated from Lewis and Clark High school in 1947. In 1958, she married Charles Lee Richardson of Richmond, California. They were long time Gerber residents and were happily married until Charles' death in November of 2017. Eileen worked for the Tehama School District at Gerber School for 25 years as a Teacher's Aide in Special Education. She faithfully attended Gerber Bible Fellowship where she enjoyed Bible study and where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Eileen and Charles were parents to children Robin Richardson, Vancouver, Washington, Ted Richardson, Sacramento California, Cindy Freshour, San Mateo, California, nieces Alberta Brandon, Kent, Washington, Kathleen Goodwin, Seattle, Washington, and nephew Russell Emerick of Russell, Mississippi; She is also survived by grandchildren, Brian, Caleb, Esther, Grant, Josiah and Micah Richardson and Brandon and Maxwell Freshour; two siblings, Gary Roberts, Huntington Beach, California and Shirley Schroeder of Anchorage, Alaska, 18 nieces and nephews and one great grandson to be born in July.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, parents, Robert and Floris, siblings, Don Roberts, Mae Sommers and Randall Roberts.
She was a wonderful Mother and friend to many. She will be truly missed.
There will be a private viewing at Hall Brothers Mortuary on Friday, May 14, burial at Oak Hill Cemetery on Saturday, May 15 at 11am and a memorial service In mid-June at Gerber Bible Fellowship.
