G'ma... your birthday was Friday. Addie and I came by to visit the site where your ashes are laid to rest. I placed some flowers that reminded me of you and the house on Star Drive. I've never been great at expressing my feelings through the spoken word, so I didn't say much. I hope you know what's in my heart. Thinking of you a lot as the holidays approach... <3

It's been almost 3 months since you passed and It's hard to believe that you aren't there to pick up the phone when I call late at night to ask for advice or just to see how you're doing. I will always love you grandma and I believe you're around me, my cat always looks at something that's not there, I think it's you.

Dearest Grandma Carol,
We learned many lessons of love and selflessness from many members of your family, and I know they attribute it to you, the family matriarch. May we all live full, happy, wonderful lives as you did. You are always in our thoughts and prayers.

It's been a month now. We would have talked once or twice in that time. Now I'll be the one to talk and you'll have to listen. I'll do my best. Guess I took for granted that you would always be there. Miss you.

Dear Grandma,
I am blessed to have known two grandmas who have enriched my life with so much passionate love and support. Thank you for always being proud of our accomplishments and for being present at important events in our lives. I will remember you always, especially through the stories you told. Sweet dreams!

I grew up with you, you were always there when I needed you and if I wanted to talk at 11 at night you would answer. You told me there is no such thing as to many hugs, and to wave goodbye when someone leaves because you never know If it would be the last time you see them. Love you to pieces grandma. I'll keep an eye on grandpa for you.

Mom,
You lit the way for me to travel where I am today. Thank you for your love and support along the way. I love you deeply and miss you terribly.

Anyone who visited grandma knows that no matter what she was doing, be it watching TV, talking on the phone or even elbow deep in a project, she would drop everything and run outside onto the porch in order to see you off and wave 'goodbye' as your car pulled away. When I was young and inquired as to why this was such an important ritual, she would say "..you never know if this is the last time you ever see that person.." and "..what better way to wish someone safe travels than to wave them off.." Truer words have never been spoken and I carry on my grandma's ritual to this day. Her wisdom will be dearly missed by me. Goodbye Grandma...safe travels.
