Earl Raymond Lenz

1926 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Earl Raymond Lenz
Earl Raymond Lenz completed his journey on January 3, 2018. He was born the youngest of three sons on February 20, 1926, to Robert and Myrtle Lenz in Lisbon, Ohio. Earl was a basketball point guard for Lisbon High Blue Devils, played saxophone in a dance band, and enlisted at 18 in the Air Force serving in WWII.
Earl earned his B.A. in Education from UCLA and M.A. from the University of Redlands. He married Margaret Johnstone, and had three children: Cerene, Eric and Ingrid and later a granddaughter, Summer. They were divorced in 1977.
Earl's professional career included being a teacher, a principal, and a school superintendent. At San Bernardino County Schools he directed the Pace Sim Program, the National Youth Corps, and created the School Attendance and Review Board. Later he was a school psychologist and director for Special Education.
Earl married Dolores LeRoy, becoming a stepfather to her children Robert, Chris and Paulette, father-In-Law to spouses Christina and Heather and "Granddad" to Miles, Jordan, Dillan, Jessica, and Ripton. During this time he also became father-In-Law to Arnold. Dolores and Earl lived in Rialto, also in a home Earl built in Crestline, then later in Cathedral City and Beaumont. They enjoyed traveling to Monterey, Carmel, Arizona, Hawaii, and the East Coast. Always an avid golfer, Earl enjoyed playing in the annual statewide amateur tournament held at Pebble Beach.
He restored vintage automobiles and enjoyed landscaping. Earl's memoir "There Was A Time" was self-published in 2009. Earl is loved and missed by his wife Dolores, his children, stepchildren, grandchildren, plus many extended family members.
Services will be held on January 22nd at Emerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel 11:00 am in Redlands. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to LA Children's Hospital.
