Edward passed away on November 27, 2017 at the Jerry Pettis VA Hospital in Loma Linda at the age of 93 years. A recent resident of Mission Commons in Redlands, Edward was born in Stratton, Colorado and graduated from Garden Home High School. He also resided in Yucaipa, Fresno, Coarsegold, Mountain View, and Sunnyvale in California, and Alamosa, Haxtun, and Berthoud in Colorado.
Edward was a Radioman First Class in the United States Navy and served during World War II, where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, 2 stars for the Philippine Liberation and 11 stars for Asiatic – Pacific. Edward worked for the Colorado State Patrol for ten years and is retired from Ford Aerospace, where he worked as a Logistician for twenty years. Edward was a member of the Oakhurst Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where he was a greeter and on the hospitality committee, and he was a member of the Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife of seventy years Irma Lee Carpenter of Redlands; sons Dwayne Carpenter of Rhode Island and David Carpenter of Calimesa; sister Lois Burditt; grandchildren Alexander (Doris), Craig (Lua), Kip (Amber), and Caleb (Vianay); and many friends.
A Visitation for viewing will be held at Cortner Chapel on Thursday, December 7 from 9:30 – 10:30 am. The Graveside service (includes Naval Honors) will be at Riverside National Cemetery (22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside) at 11:30 am; please arrive at Staging Area 3 no later than 11:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the following: Adventist Development and Relief Agency or the Parkinsons Disease Foundation.
