ELLSWORTH WAREHAM Born in Avinger, Texas, October 3, 1914, Ellsworth Wareham spent his early school and high school years in Alberta, Canada, before pursuing his dream of becoming a physician. Although he retired at the age of 75, he continued to assist in cardiothoracic surgery until he was 95. An innovator in open heart surgery, Dr. Wareham took the Loma Linda heart team and its mobile equipment around the world, performing surgeries and introducing local physicians to open heart surgery. Dr. Wareham's death on December 15, 2018, marked the end of a notable career as physician and professor at Loma Linda University. Dr. Wareham leaves to mourn his wife Barbara of 68 years; his childrenMartin, John, Robert, and Julieeight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His son Scott preceded him in death. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m., Sunday, December 30, at Loma Linda University Church. Gifts in Dr. Wareham's memory can be made to Ellsworth Wareham Global Service and Education Fund.
