Irma Jean Harrison Obituary
In Memory Of
Irma Jean Harrison
"Jean" Harrison, age 91, died at home in Redlands on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2017. Respiratory failure was the cause of death. Born on March 25, 1926, in Long Beach, California, she was the daughter of William and Elizabeth (McCaughey) Dorman.
Raised in Long Beach, she graduated from Jordan High School in 1943. She attended Long Beach Community College while working at Douglas Aircraft until 1946, when she married Howard Harrison. They decided to raise their sons in Tustin, California where they built a home in 1951. In 1987, they moved to Bella Vista, California, their retirement paradise. In 2006, she moved to Redlands to live with her son, Jon, and his wife, Lynette.
Jean spent years sewing, golfing, gardening and most of all being a loving wife, incredible mother and indulgent grandmother. Her many cats brought her a great deal of comfort and joy. Even though she suffered from a stroke in 2012, she never lost her loving spirit and sense of humor.
Jean is survived by her sons Kevin Harrison of Yorba Linda, and Jon (Lynette) Harrison of Redlands; her sister, Betty Angelo, of Long Beach; nieces Debby Angelo of Blue Lake, and Carol (Matt) Bennett of Watsonville; grandchildren Jordan (Trevor Stordahl) Harrison of Berkeley, Claire Harrison of Austin, Texas, Cameron Harrison of Provo, Utah, Briley Harrison of Yorba Linda and Aubrey Harrison of Yorba Linda. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard in 1999, and her eldest son, William Randolph (Randy) Harrison in 2014.
As Jean requested, no services are planned. Contributions to Redlands Meals on Wheels would be a lovely gesture because Jean enjoyed their kindness and daily visits so much. Watching the Redlands city council meetings on television was enjoyable for her, especially when the Redlands Animal Shelter featured adoption possibilities. A contribution to the animal shelter would be something she would have appreciated.
