Leo Berger

Leo Berger, 92, a 36 year resident of Redlands, died April 27, 2018 in Raleigh, NC after a lengthy illness. He was a product of the "greatest generation", born May 1, 1925 into very humble circumstances in Chicago. His pathway out of the south side was the USAAF in WWII in the Pacific, and a hard earned Master's Degree in Engineering. He married Evelyn Michelin Berger on January 17, 1953, moved to Redlands in June, 1962 and was proud of his career helping to develop America's defense systems. Evelyn passed February 8, 1991 after many years of service to Redlands Community Hospital and the greater community. Leo was remarried to Patricia Siddel of Redlands on March 12, 1994 who was of great support to him, and relocated to be near family in Raleigh, NC in March, 1999.
Survivors include wife Pat of Raleigh, NC, sons Dr. Philip W. Berger (Cynthia) of Scottsdale, AZ, CDR (USN Ret) Steven M. Berger (Noreen) of Raleigh, NC, and Captain Robert L. Berger (Debra) of San Carlos, CA., sister in law Irene Preiser of Livingston, New Jersey, seven grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Lauren, Nathaniel, Lindsey, Justine and Carson and one great grandchild, Adara. Services were held April 29, 2018. Memorial contributions may be made to the Education Fund of Congregation Temple Emanu El, Redlands.
