Richard B. Cowen Obituary
September 16, 1958 - November 28, 2017

Richard Brian Cowen passed away November 28th in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Rick was born September 16, 1958 in Guam to Redlands residents Charles Lester Cowen and Jo Anne Fleming. While spending most of his early life traveling the Country with his Navy family, Redlands was always home. After attending Redlands High, Rick served in the US Navy, and the US Air Force. He then began a long career in the car parts business, retiring in 2010.

Rick will be best remembered for his devotion to his family. His passion was raising his two daughters in a loving, respectful home. He loved music, especially Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and later in life the Pentatonics. He was known for his sense of humor, and was a master of the 'Dad Joke'. He will also be remembered as a wonderful storyteller.

Rick leaves behind his two cherished daughters, Melissa and Sarah. Grandchildren Andrew, Rayna, Katelynn, Allison and Robert. Mother Jo Anne. Dear friend Virginia. Brothers Jim, Jeff, Steve and Matt. Sisters Mary Anne, Amanda and Catherine. Step-Mother Sharon. Grandmother Laura. Aunts Esther and Denise. His beloved Aunt Pat and her family. And so many other well loved family and friends, many rooted in the Redlands area.

Rick was preceded in death by his wife Kimberly, father Chuck and brother Tom.

Rick's life will not be remembered solely for his individual accomplishments, but by the love of all those who walked with him through his life's journey. To paraphrase Willie Nelson...We were a band of brothers, sisters and whatever. We know Rick loved us, because we loved him too. But we would never, ever, dare tell him what to do.

In lieu of a memorial service the family requests that all those who knew and loved Rick share their memories, stories, pictures and embarrassing moments on his Facebook page for all to read and enjoy.
