Theodore August Merckens Obituary
Theodore August Merckens

Theodore was born the elder of two sons on July 5, 1924, to Theodore "Herman" and Francis Merckens, in Williamsville, New York. Theodore attended Yale University from 1941-1942. He was drafted to the Navy aboard the aircraft carrier Hancock, receiving medals for his service. Upon discharge in 1946, he attended Ohio State University, graduating in 1950 with a degree in Engineering. He received a master's in Aerospace Engineering Management from USC in 1970.
As a member of the Buffalo Yacht Club, he raced his catamaran with close friend Kean Stimm. Through this club, he met and married Louetta Eber in 1955. In 1964, Ted and Louetta settled in Redlands, CA, where Ted worked in the field of Aerospace Engineering for TRW on the Norton Air Force Base. Ted and Louetta were active members of Bethany Reformed Church, where Ted served the consistory as both deacon and elder for multiple years.
Ted was a faithful follower of Jesus, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, beloved by all who knew him. Theodore passed on Sunday, January 28th, and is survived by his wife of 62 years, Louetta, four daughters, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is greatly missed.
