I am one of many thousands in the former Eastern Europe whose lives will never be the same because of the impact Rev. Gulas had in this part of the world. His faith and wit, his love and generosity, his laugh and tears - that and so much more will always be remembered in our hearts. After the fall of the Berlin wall when I was just a young man of 17 he came to me and said: "Next year I will bring you to Bible school!" Those words forever changed the course of my life. At the age of 18, based on Rev. Gulyas's arrangement I enrolled in Zion Bible Institute (now Northpoint Bible College) where I spent 3 years preparing for full time ministry in Slovakia. Brother Gulyas has truly been a spiritual father, a mentor, an evangelist, an apostle - but mainly a loving and a passionate servant.
I am a life that was changed! Thank you, Jesus!

My husband Alex Hamilton and I (Miszti Edit Timea) loved and supported the wonderful work of "Pisti Bacsi" as he was fondly known in the Hungarian church circles -- he was always such a faithful servant of The Lord, so accountable and eager to share what He was accomplishing In the lives of His people. Rev. Gulyas was always so prompt, tireless, vivid -- and so genuine-- in his letters... We felt very committed to him and are so happy to know he is home at last. I'm so happy for him, and yet we cried when we heard the news and as I write this. I don't know why I'm crying, except perhaps out of awe for how God can use one person to touch thousands, and humility and self-examination... How can I allow God to use my more in my own sphere today? That's just one small element of his legacy.
Meanwhile my parents, Arpad and Ileana Miszti in California are seeking to create a memorial service in his honor on April 20 or 21. If you have a photo (or several) you can share, that would be wonderfully appreciated.

“Behold, thou are my faithful servant whom I love and uphold, thou has been a delight and given me sweet joy in my soul… I delighted in thee when I formed thee in the ground, and because thou has kept my commandments, I shall award thee with a crown…. Uncle Steve, you have been a great inspiration to us, you will be missed. I love you and I know you now have seen your Heavenly Father. And we all say "AMEN"
