Margaret Elsie Geddes, 95, formerly of Winsted, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at the Masonic Home in Wallingford. She was the wife of the late Harold Geddes. Born in Torrington, October 3, 1917, a daughter of the late Harry L. and Lydia (Aust) Dautrich she had lived most of her life in Winsted. Prior to her retirement, she had been an Executive Secretary at Fairchild Automated in Winsted for 27 years. She was a graduate of Holyoke High School, class of 1933 and Baypath Institute, class of 1935. She was a member of the Winsted United Methodist Church where she was active in the choir and was the substitute organist. She enjoyed playing the organ even into her later years. Margaret's survivors include her daughter in law, Sheila Geddes of South Burlington, VT; a sister, Helen Dewey of Winsted; a granddaughter, Erin Sweenor of Morrisville, NC, a grandson, Andrew Sweenor and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Andrew D. Geddes, a brother Henry Dautrich and two sisters, Dorothea Weber and Evelyn Stetson. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 2:00 pm at the Maloney Funeral Home 55 Walnut Street, Winsted, with the Rev. Florence Eddins, Pastor of the Winsted United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Pleasant Valley, in the spring. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Winsted United Methodist Church.
