Constance "Connie" Zaccara Obituary
Zaccara , Constance "Connie"
Constance "Connie" (Cannavo) Zaccara, 97, most beloved mother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. She goes to join and dance again with her loving husband, the late Myron Zaccara. Born the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Coco) Cannavo on July 3, 1920 in the town of Winsted where she married, worked, raised a family, and lived her entire life. She attended St. Anthony's School, Gilbert schools and was crowned Miss Winsted in 1945. Connie worked at Daniel's Curtain Store until she married Myron, the love of her life, in 1949 and then worked at Danfield Threads in customer relations for 32 years, until her retirement in 1986. She belonged to the Italian American Woman's club, the McCarthy senior center, volunteered at the Valley Thrift Shop and was a communicant at St. Joseph's Church. Her hobbies were cooking, playing cards and visiting with friends. She was best known for her quick smile, her love of family and friends, and being a mother to all. A devoted mother, wife, grandmother and friend she was truly loved by all, and words cannot express the sorrow we all feel in her passing. Even young at 97, she was always full of grace and life, spent a lifetime of giving to others and we feel she still left us all too soon. She will be deeply missed by all those very fortunate enough to have known her. She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Umbro and husband Bruno of Southington and MaryAnn deManbey and husband David of New Hartford; six grand children, and five great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Sarah English, Catherine Nero, Josie Malanca, Joseph Cannavo and Tony Cannavo. Friends may call on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 4 – 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Joseph's Church, Winsted at 10 a.m. Burial will be held in the spring.
