Salius, Dr. John Anthony "Jack"
Dr. John Anthony "Jack" Salius, 82, of Somers, CT passed away on Tuesday February 20, 2018, in the comfort of his home with his wife, daughters and son-in-law at his side. He was the beloved husband of his High School sweetheart Barbara (Carbone) Salius for 59 years. Jack was born June 1, 1935, in Torrington, CT, son of the late Anthony Salius and Gertrude (Cavallo) Salius. He was a graduate of Torrington High School Class of 1954, The University of Connecticut, and Georgetown University Dental School Class of 1962. He was a captain in the Air Force where he proudly served from 1962 to 1964. Jack opened his dental practice in Enfield CT in 1964, were he successfully practiced for 50 years. He devoted much of his time to education of other dentists in the field of Orthodontics, developing a continuing education program that he ran for 20 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Dr. Kathleen Salius of Stamford, CT and Sharon Yarrows and her husband, Brian of Somers, CT; his two cherished grandsons Jack and Michael Yarrows; a brother Michael Salius and his wife, Elaine; sisters-in-law Diane Salius and Maryanne (Carbone) Summa and his much loved nieces, nephews and their families. Jack was predeceased by a brother Timothy Salius and a brother-in-law Robert Summa. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Friday February 23, 2018 at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., (Route 190) from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial for Jack will be celebrated on Saturday February 24, 2018 at 10:30am in All Saints Church Somersville, CT. Please meet at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
