Tessa Pascarella Obituary
Pascarella, Tessa
Tessa Peruzzi Pascarella, age 79, died on January 21, 2018 at her home in Greenwich, Connecticut of multiple myeloma. Tessa was born on November 15, 1938 in Greenwich to Averardo Glanville Peruzzi and Constance Martin Peruzzi. Tessa attended Greenwich Academy and The Ladies' College, on Guernsey in the Channel Islands, England, prior to graduating from Greenwich High School in 1956.
Tessa earned language diplomas from Aix-Marseille University in France and from Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich, Germany and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Wilson College, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Tessa worked as a research assistant during the 1960s at Yale Medical School. In 1967, she married Henry W. Pascarella, a graduate of Yale Law School, and they settled in Greenwich. In 1970, the family moved to Sherman, Connecticut after acquiring Timber Trails, a thousand acre forest, where Tessa resided until moving back to Greenwich in the early 1990s.
Tessa will be remembered for her generosity and graciousness. Tessa loved animals - she was an equestrian, dog owner, and feeder of birds. She was a graceful athlete who enjoyed tennis, swimming, and skiing. Tessa enjoyed the morning crossword puzzle and loved to travel, particularly to exotic destinations. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Audubon of Greenwich, Mianus River Gorge.
Tessa was a granddaughter of Mrs. and Mr. Leonard Martin of Greenwich, Connecticut and Palm Beach, Florida and the Marchesa and Marchese Vincent Peruzzi of Florence, Italy and Guernsey, England. Tessa was directly descended from the historic Peruzzi de' Medici family of Florence, Italy.
Tessa is survived by her husband, Henry, their son Averardo ("Aldo") Pascarella (m. Christine), daughter Leonora Meyerhoff (m. Tido), both of Greenwich, daughter Cassandra Berger (m. Gideon) of Manhattan, and eight grandchildren, Isabella, Marcello, Gabriella, Tessa, Constanza, Penelope, Cosima, and Henry II ("Harrison"). Tessa was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John and Lawrence.
Burial services will be private for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Audubon of Greenwich, Meals on Wheels, Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation or the World Wildlife Fund.
