Margaret Sawoska Obituary
She was a lifelong resident of Torrington and retiree of The Torrington Company Needle Division. She was a member of Saint Peter Church and the Columbiettes. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Margaret is survived by a daughter, Shirley Stephens of Torrington and a son, David Sawoska of The Woodlands Texas. Grandchildren Christine, Jimmy, Jonathan, Matthew and Stephanie; and great grandchildren Courtney, Carlee, Christian and Alexis; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Louis and sisters Adeline, Josephine, and Jennie.
Funeral services will be held on Friday Sept. 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Peter Church. Burial will follow at new Saint Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 9-10 a.m. Friday at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Sharon Health Care Center and Salisbury Visiting Nurse Association for their kind care of Margaret. Dear Shirley and David
Your mom was such a sweet woman and I have so many nice memories of her. This may be inappropriate but I wanted to tell a story about her. When we were her neighbors, we planted a row of tiny pine saplings between our two properties. They had just taken hold and were growing fast...we would check them every few days. One day my husband came home and asked "Where are my pine trees!". I hadn't noticed anything but then remembered that Margaret had just mowed her lawn that day...and was nice enough to mow part of ours. She took down every one!
She always had a smile and a wave...I know you will miss her very much.
