I just learned today of Milt's passing. Several years ago I was in Eugene (where I once lived from 1972-1975) and happened to meet Milt while visiting a friend. He was kind enough to give me his autograph. RIP, Mr. Welch!

Got to know Milt these past two years and discovered a gruff exterior which covered a soft heart. Didn't like to talk about himself but was a good listener. Two favorite lines when asked about his birth: i have a twin brother and we share the same birthday. Born in Illinois, yep, me and Abe Lincoln. I will dearly miss the old codger..
