Donald Glenn Moyer was born to Glenn and Olga M. (Peterson) Moyer of Minneapolis, MN on September 18, 1930. He died on September 10, 2018 in Eugene, OR.
Don graduated from the University of Minnesota in June 1955 and entered a U.S. Army Internship and Dermatology Residency at Letterman Hospital in San Francisco. He was assigned to Gorgas Hospital, Panama, Canal Zone for 3 ? years; Brooke Hospital in San Antonio, TX for 2 years; and was Chief of the Department of Hospital Clinics at Madigan Hospital, Ft. Lewis, WA for 3 years, when he left the regular army. He then spent 21 years in the Army Reserves.
In the Reserves, he earned promotion to full Colonel in 1971, and commanded the 45th Reserve Station Hospital for 5 years. He retired from the Reserves in 1995.
In 1969, Don joined the Eugene Hospital and Clinic in Eugene as a Dermatologist and Mohs Surgeon. During his time at EH&C he served as Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Building Committee. He retired from practice in 1997.
Don also served as President of the Lane Memorial Blood Bank; Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center; and wrote over 20 scientific papers. He was active at the Very Little Theater and became a Life Member there in 2015.
A man of many interests, Don was well-read, well-traveled and well-spoken. And he loved his roses.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda; his children, Steven Moyer, Tom (Linda) Moyer, of Portland, OR and Martha Moyer of Boston, MA; his step-children, Chris Grabau, Ventura, CA, Wendy (Mark) Heidrich of Meridian, ID, and Daniel Grabau of Petaluma, CA; his granddaughters, Jasmine (Tony) Ferrara of Wesley Chapel, FL, Mindy (Doug) Kluge of Phoenix, AZ, Alyssa Moyer and Emily Moyer; his step-grandchildren, Jennifer Grabau, Adam Grabau of Ventura, CA, Dieter Heidrich, Lily Heidrich of Meridian, ID; his great-grandchildren, Courtney Ferrara, Hailey Ferrara and Doug Kluge, Jr.; his step great-grandchild, Mason Carillo; his nephew, Paul Moyer of Albuquerque, NM.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, R. Deanne Moyer, and his step-son, Kevin Grabau.
No service will be held at his request.
