Dear Judy, I came upon this obituary today and am left speechless. I remember those years at Ziff Davis and how much you talked about your oldest child, Mario, always with laughter and a smile on your face. Even then, he sounded like a force of nature and, after reading his obituary, he surely was. Believe me, I know your pain and suffering. I've come to the conclusion that life can only be bittersweet. Impossible for it to be any other way. The bitterness is in the heartbreak and the sweetness is in the memories. My prayers are with you and your family. Please feel free to email me as you are able. I'd love to hear from you. God bless, Stella (Johnson-Ganney)

This well written obituary says it all about Buddy.
I'm with a loosely formed group of artists who participate in a Monday session called Muse Art. We draw or paint different musicians each week and had the pleasure of drawing and listening to Buddy over the years, probably at least 10 times. We were shocked and saddened to hear of Buddy's premature passing. Buddy set the bar in terms of challenges to draw-he was constantly moving! Kelly's nickname for him was Skeeter It was frustrating to those used to still nude models, but Buddy's stories more than made up for it. We felt like we knew him with those stories. Buddy was a bit of an anomaly-a black man from New York who loved and played Southern rock. He was a very open and warm person and we will miss him dearly.
We have drawings and paintings of Buddy that we'd like to share with family and friends, if it can be arranged. You can contact me at [email protected]
Condolences, Scott Fife

I randomly read Buddy's obituary and thought it was thoughtfully written. Sounds like if you ever met him, you'd never forget him. So sorry for your loss. Perhaps ELkhorn Brewery would be kind enough to post his obit next to his painting. That would be a nice way to pay homage to the late artist known as Buddy. Again, so sorry for your loss.
