Jeno Horvath Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 4 to Jul. 7, 2009.
HORVATH, Jeno It is with profound sadness that the family of Jeno Horvath announces his passing on Canada's birthday, a country, who's many opportunities gave a poor Hungarian immigrant prosperity and success. In the early, warm evening, Iron Jeno, after a valiant two and a half year battle with lung cancer, succumbed to his horrible illness. Iron Jeno, a nickname given to him by his wife for his indefatigable work ethic, summed up the man better than any adjective ever could. After suffering a massive stroke, which took his speech and paralyzed the right side of his body, after suffering a ruptured esophagus and finally lung cancer, with all his physical impairments, he loved and embraced life this was a fighter! Born in Lickovadamos, Hungary, Jeno was a remarkably gifted and independent man, who just sparked with life and spirit. He grew up on a family farm with two siblings. After the Hungarian Revolution, Jeno escaped to Canada, with little more than the clothes on his back. He started his life in his new home by laying railway ties, working in a bakery and finally finding his niche in new home construction. He formed his own house building company and was actively constructing homes until ill health forced him to retire in 2005; however, he continued to participate in the decision making until his passing. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was known for his big smile and friendly disposition. He cherished every extra moment that he was able to spend with his family. He was a carpenter extraordinaire, a maker of wine, an outdoors enthusiast, and foremost, a loving husband to Margaret Horvath, and father, to two very lucky children, Sean and Lisa. Jeno was predeceased by his parents Lajos and Erzebet Horvath and brother Lazlo Horvath of Hungary. He is survived by family in Hungary; sister Klaire (Endre) Gaspar; nieces (Baba) Kis Klari and Terry; sister-in-law Terri Horvath; nephews Attila Gaspar and Laczi Horvath; his best friend (surrogate brother) Erwin Schlecter; Marie Lacey and Aunt Ida; and all of the Luczi and Horvath family; as well as numerous relatives and friends. The family would like to give an extra special thank you to Darren (Manager of Park Street Dairy Queen) for treating him like a King. Jeno will be loved and missed forever by his family and acquaintances. A PRAYER SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at Holy Rosary Cathedral, 2104 Garnet Street, Regina, SK on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. Margaret, I am sad to see that Jeno passed away. I remember the summer that I helped him with the framing on one of his houses and how much I appreciated his work ethic, we looked at construction the same way. It was fun to bump into him and share a few stories of the business now and then and you will be happy to hear his old concrete forms are still performing for me. Every time I drive down Arcola I think of him directing me to where the forms were stored. Take care.

We are very sorry to hear of Jeno's passing and it is with Deepest Sympathy that we would like to express our condolences. May happy memories last forever.
I knew Jeno from the early 70's. Over the years I worked and spent time with him at the coffee shops.
Jeno was always happy, always smiling. He was a very gifted man, he could build anything.
It was an honor to work and know him.
RIP friend

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
