Christian (Chris) Johnson passed away on Friday January 8th, 2021. He was born to parents Cliff & Kathy Johnson in Kansas City Missouri, then spent a short time in Canon City Colorado. He later moved to Loveland in 1976. Chris graduated from Loveland High School in 1978, received a Marketing Degree from Metro State University, and later completed his Master's Degree in Theology. Chris is survived by the love of his life Marilyn, daughter Katie Johnson, son Andrew Johnson, mother Kathy Johnson, sister Debra Green, brother Scott Johnson (Jessie), numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Chris was a youth pastor in Loveland for 20 years. Spending time with the youth brought him great joy. In 2008, Chris founded a non-profit called Be the Gift, an organization that helps single moms with home repair. He and Marilyn love helping these families in our community. Chris loved baseball, loved to travel, and most of all loved spending time with his family & friends. He lived life to the fullest, and always made everyone's day a little brighter. We are celebrating his amazing life on Saturday January 16th at 10:00am at Message of Life Ministries (605 18th St. SW, Loveland, CO 80537). The family would ask in lieu of flowers that you would make a donation to Be the Gift (PO Box 1285, Loveland, CO, 80539). Chris was loved by so many and will be greatly missed!

You will be missed Chris. You had the best sense of humor, and you always made me laugh in high school. I'll never forget the Cold As Ice t-shirt you would wear to school. Every time I hear that song I think of you! Fly high my friend!!!!

Just moments ago I discovered the email with this devastating news. My heart is breaking for you Marilyn, your kids and your entire family. Please accept my sincere thoughts and condolences. I've never met anyone quite like Chris. His love, wisdom and love of God came through in everything he did. I feel so blessed to have known him through Be the Gift. When I lost my youngest sister in 2019, Chris and the entire Be the Gift family were so loving and supportive. I could never thank you enough for everything you've done for me. Chris leaves a lasting legacy of love and kindess for anyone who had the honor of meeting him. If there is ever anything I can do, please let me know. My prayers are with you.

My deepest sympathies to your family. I am a recipient of Be the Gift and I was so humbled by the work of your ministry. There were even times when I felt undeserving of such generosity, but as a Follower, I learned that I must learn to receive. I am so honored and glad to have met Chris, Marilyn, BeTheGift staff, and volunteers. I will be praying for peace and love to surround you all. Thank you Lord for gifting us Chris. Mission completed, brother, may you rest in peace.

My heart breaks. Chris and my brother were great friends and now, I miss them both. Chris as a young man was a positive force for those around him. As an adult he brought that to a whole different level. God bless Chris, his family and all that loved him.

To the entire Johnson family,
My deepest sympathy for the loss of an exceptional man. Chris was my youth pastor years ago; he had a lot of patience to drive a bus packed with youth from CO to TX. Not to mention all the mission trips all over the world and all youth lives he changed. Chris was a genuine man with a massive heart for youth and single mothers. Our community lost a genuine human.

Chris and I were childhood friends. Even before I can remember what age it was we first met. 5 or 6, something like that. So many great memories of not only Chris but the Johnson family in general. Chris was always a caring sole. Even from the youngest age. I'm not at all surprised at how his life turned out. He was always destined to be someone special. A few of the memories I have are that his mom Kathy had these soup bowls in her kitchen that were shaped much like the diamond of the Superman symbol. Kathy would grab one of those bowls and using old white bath towels, trace around the bowl and make us Superman capes. To a 6 year old that was pretty cool. Also, we had a local maintenance man that took care of the lake property where we lived and he would give us rides in the bucket of his front loader. Again, to a 6 year old, that was such a blast. And lastly, we had many deep rock formations on the lake side of our houses. These crevices were sometimes 10 or 12 feet deep. Two of these huge rock formations had a bridge between them. I don't recall the situation or circumstances, lets just say we were playing on the bridge and I fell off breaking my collar bone. We had many, many great times. I can remember being so sad when they moved away. My heart goes out to the entire family for such a sudden and unexpected loss. May the Lord be with you.

We met Chris and the Johnson family when they first moved to Loveland. There are many memories coming to mind, Lay Witness Missions, retreats at Horn Creek, Marilyn was our dental hygienist for many years, we think of the whole family as dear friends. God bless all who knew and loved Chris until we are together again.

Chris, thank you for being the critical role model of what a man and all around decent human being should be. You were the epitome of what a youth leader should be and had a pivotal role in my teenage years, words can’t express my gratitude. I love you.

When I am too excited to know what to do, I still waggle the back of my hands in front of my eyes ‘a la’ Chris. He is a pivotal figure in my journey of faith. How many road trips, how many youth meetings, how many praise and worship rehearsals, how many skits and bible studies and lunches and on and on can make up all of my memories of your family? I am so sorry to lose him to this time on earth but so grateful for the person he is and his influence and legacy on me and my family. He truly has been a gift!

To the entire Johnson family, may Gods healing hand be with you all in this time of sorrow. I met Chris in high school. The man had one of the biggest kindest hearts ever. He made me laugh ever other sentence he spoke! Everyone will remember that infectious smile of his! He will truly be missed by all the people he touched in life. There are hundreds if not thousands of us who he influenced and made life better for. He was an incredible man of the Lord.

Marilyn, we are so sorry that the Loveland Christian Family has lost one of our most Christlike members. I know you are comforted by the knowledge that Chris is now in the loving care of his heavenly Father receiving the rich rewards promised for those who live as he has. He inspired us in so many ways.
