Joye Rutledge Stevens, 94, of Abilene, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017. Visitation will be from 6:00PM to 7:00PM, Monday, May 8, 2017 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Joye was born in Jones County, TX. to Matthew & Flora Rutledge on January 31, 1923. She married M.Z. Stevens in Abilene on February 18, 1941. She worked in the Banking-Payroll Dept. for 1st National Bank of Anchorage, AK. She was a member of the Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.
Joye was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Jean Higgins.
She is survived by her husband M.Z. Stevens of Abilene. One son, Ronnie Stevens & wife Gaylene of Salida, CO. Sister, Janice Edwards & husband Dee of Abilene. Four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Hospice of the Big Country, 4601 Hartford St., Abilene, TX 79605.
Arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
