Helen Babington Obituary
Abilene
Helen Babington was born in Desdemona, TX on February 3, 1921, and passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012, in Abilene at the age of 91.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at the Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory St., with Bro. Bill Young officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 14, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. at the funeral home. A private graveside service will be Thursday in Tishomingo, OK.
Helen and her husband owned and operated Sam's Rent-All in Abilene from 1961 to 1979. She lived independently into her 90's. Helen was active in the Abilene book Club and she especially loved all "the girls" in her art class taught by Ginger Test.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Lois and Jess Faulkner; her husband, Sam; and her sister, Norma Jo Collins.
Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Babington Patterson and husband, Dexter of Abilene; her son, Michael Babington and wife, Kay of Abilene; grandchildren, Justin and Jamie Babington and Heather Patterson; and great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Joshua, and Sammuel Babington.
Helen requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Christian Service Center, 901 Mesquite St., Abilene, TX 79601 or the West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford St., Abilene, TX 79605.

Vicki and Mike, our heartfelt sympathy for you both on Helen's passing. We have so many wonderful memories of gatherings at the lake house with her, Sam, Mary and Herschel and now they all have gone to a better place.

I knew Helen for only a few short years, but I'll never forget her kind and gentle spirit. She was so much fun and so giving. Her last words to me Sunday, 2/12/12 were, "I'm glad I got to know you." Helen, my namesake, was a very special friend who never aged, always had a smile, and always made a bright spot in our lives. She was such an encouragement and inspiration to us by her optimistic outlook, even on days when she did not feel her best. We will really miss her.
