Fred Catoner Obituary

Fred C Catoner

July 10, 1930

October 2, 2012

Surrounded by his loving family, Fred C. Catoner Sr., entered into eternal life with Jesus his Savior on October 2, 2012 at the age of 82. Our loving husband, father, Lolo, brother, uncle, and gentleman fought a battle with diabetes for almost 30 years with incredible optimism. To his last breath he was dedicated in his faith and concerned only for others and not for himself.

Fred was born on July 10, 1930 in Cavite, Philippines. He married his long time sweetheart, Lolita Sevilla in 1957. Fred and Lolita were blessed with three beautiful children - Frederick (Ricky) Sevilla Catoner in 1959; Fred (Jojo) Sevilla Catoner Jr. in 1961; and their daughter Flordeliza (Lisa) Ann Sevilla Catoner in 1969.

He spent 21 years in the U.S. Navy where the family were stationed in Japan, Florida, California, Guam & the Philippines. After retiring from the Navy, the family moved back to the Philippines for several years and relocated back to the States and moved to Reno, Nevada. Fred worked for the Washoe School District in Reno, NV for 15 years.

Fred was a member of Little Flower church and Immaculate Conception church. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus, BLD (Bukas Loob sa Diyos) and a devotee of Santa Nino prayer group.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Lolita; his son Ricky Catoner (Pam), his son Fred Catoner, Jr. (Christine) and their children Christopher and Michael; his daughter Lisa and her son Trentton.

Also surviving Fred are his brothers Rudy Catoner (Leyda) and Catalino Catoner (Josie); and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation at Ross, Burke and Knobel Mortuary, 2155 Kietzke Lane, Reno , NV on Sunday, October 7, 2012 from 12 noon to 8:00 pm with a rosary service and novena starting at 4:00 pm.

A funeral mass will be held at Little Flower Church, 875 E Plumb Lane, Reno, NV on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 2:00 pm.

I am sorry for your loss. Fred and I bowled together on the Knights of Columbus bowling teams a long time ago. He was sure a character and we had a lot of laughs. Time just flew by so quickly. Fred died on the same day my wife died. Her funeral Mass will be Tuesday. I just had to sign Fred's Guest Book. Your family has my sympathy.

I can still remember the day when my dad (fondly called Tito Domeng) and Tito Fred took me along to Tagaytay to watch a Cockfight.. It was the first time I've seen one and was amazed not with the rooster fighting each other, but with the audience rooting for their "chicken." Dad and Tito Fred had a blast and I can't remember if they won their bets..
I sincerely hope that they are together now.. patting each others back, telling jokes and grinning at each other until they turn red with laughter..

Our deepest sympathies to the whole families and may his soul rest in peace.
