Franz (Frank) Sedlmeier(1932 - 2013)

Franz (Frank) Sales Sedlmeier

Frank was born on February 1, 1932 in Ramersdorf, Munich, Germany. He passed away on April 5, 2013 in Reno, Nevada.

As a teenager, Frank trained to become a chef so that he could bring home extra food from the restaurant to feed his family in post WWII. Once Frank became an adult he moved to America and was sponsored by the Snear family in Pennsylvania. He then joined the US Army and had his choice of deployments so naturally he returned to Germany as an American GI. Once there he met and married Eva Beck in Ramersdorf, Germany. They moved back to Pennsylvania, later living in California, Nevada and Colorado. Frank's passion was in engineering so while he lived in California he obtained his degree in mechanical engineering. Frank's career included working for Purina, Lear Fan (in Reno and Ireland), Martin Marietta Aerospace and finally Hawker de Havilland Aerospace (in Sydney, Australia). Frank was very proud to be a member of the Elks Lodge for 51 years.

Frank and his wife Eva loved to spend time with family and friends in their RV near Graeagle, CA over recent summers. He loved to fish and would always offer his fresh catch to anyone in the campground.

Frank is predeceased by his parents Franz and Maria, and wife Eva. He is survived by his brother Karl (Renate), loving daughters Sylvia (Doug) Bohall and Michelle (Don) Twichell, and much adored grandchildren Lyndsey and Travis Bohall. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his beloved dachshund Lucy. A special thank you for the wonderful care Frank received from Dr Patel and the compassionate nurses at the CLC Veteran's Hospital.

Per Frank's request there will be no memorial service but instead a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make any donations to the Wounded Warrior Project Internment will be at a later date.
