Carl John Curt passed away on August 25, 2013 at his residence in Spanish Springs, NV. He was born on August 26, 1929 in Detroit, MI, to Carl L. & Elizabeth Curt. He previously lived in Washington State, Fallbrook , CA., and Reno, NV. Curt was a retired Nevada Energy engineer whose accomplishments included working with his father-in-law, Fred A. Thaheld, an inventor who held 72 patents & who invented and piloted the nation's first single-wing plane. In the 1950's Curt drafted Thaheld's diesel- powered "Weathermaster", a propeller-type frost machine used to protect citrus crops. He also served in the Korean Conflict, being invited back to So. Korea in 2002 for their "Fifty Years of Freedom" celebration. Carl loved art, music, animals, snow-skiing, fishing, boating, travelling & the outdoors. He once navigated up the Inland Passage by boat with only his cat for company. Survivors include daughter Suzanne Flood & grandson Jared, former wives Jeanette Thaheld Curt Waldrep & Charlene Curt, as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Two other children, son Darrell Curt & daughter Teresa Fox, preceded him in death, as well as long-time companion Carmen Danforth. A reception in his honor is being held on September 7, 2013, between 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Cascades of the Sierra, 275 Neighborhood Way, Spanish Springs, NV., in the second floor Great Room. Interment will be at the No. NV. Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, NV. at a later date.
