Curtis Lewis Holmes
Reno - Curtis Lewis Holmes passed away suddenly at home of a cardiac arrest in the arms of his beloved wife Jackie Holmes on April 14, 2021 after a long fight with COPD and asbestosis. Curt had a large circle of family and dear friends. He leaves a devastated family: Jim and Annie Holmes (Matt), JoAnn Chadwick (Steven), Bobby and Connie Holmes, Bill and Hope Burket, Tim and Jessica Holmes, Christy and Stacy Byrd (Stormy), Mary Highton Foxton MIL, Laurette Looney SIL and the Canadian family connection: David and Jeaneva Bodtcher (Cassidy and Hillary), Doug and Sheri Bodtcher (Palmer and Chase).
Curt was a kind and generous man, a true gentleman. He loved the water sports in his younger years, i.e. water skiing down the Sacramento river with his sister on his shoulders, his motorcycle and the rides with his friends (Kenny and Taresa, Susan and Lonny, Marie and Ron - you gave him a lot of joy), the drives through the Canadian Rockies to visit the family in Alberta and the fun theater dinner shows, all the car shows he could see (Creig and Sara, we had so much fun in Wendover).
Curt joined the US Navy after high school and served on the aircraft carrier Yorktown. Following his service, he held a variety of jobs until he settled on truck driving. After he retired from truck driving for Reddaway, he transported motorcycles for Harley Davidson. He just loved driving. Cars and hot rods were his passion.
A memorial service will be held at the Northern Nevada Cemetery in Fernley.
