Curtiss Ludwig Vice Obituary
Curtiss Ludwig Vice

Sparks - Curt was born in Minneapolis, MN on February 25, 1941 to Roy McClellan Banbury and Lucinda Ludwig Banbury. He passed away on September 30, 2019 at Rosewood Rehabilitation Center in Sparks, NV following complications of a broken hip surgery.

When Curt was very young, Roy and Lucinda moved to Elko, NV. After Roy and Lucinda divorced, Lucinda married Floyd Vice in 1947. Curt and his younger sister, Phylliss, soon took the name of Vice.

Curt attended grammar school and high school in Elko. He attended Humboldt County High School for a short time during his senior year but returned to graduate from Elko County High School in 1959.

After graduating, he joined the U.S. Army where he served from 1960 to 1962. Upon discharge from the Army, he moved to California and attended barber school in Pasadena.

He met Judy Gillespie in 1966. They married in 1967 and Curt became a father to Judy's three children. Curt and Judy had their son, Elliott, in 1970.

Curt was a barber at various shops in California and Nevada and an owner of a barber shop in Pomona, CA and Scissors Palace in Winnemucca. After closing Scissors Palace, he and Judy moved to Sparks.

Curt was a diehard Elvis fan from the first time he heard him on the radio. He was able to see him live in concert on two occasions. We are sure Elvis was there to greet him at the Pearly Gates, along with the rest of his family!

He is survived by wife, Judy of Sparks, daughter, Diane Mayfield (Bob) of Huntington Beach, CA, son, Elliott Vice (Christen) of Reno, brother, Floyd Vice (Peg), sister, Phylliss Fagg (Ron), all of Reno. Grandchildren, James Mayfield (Cammie), Autumn Igo (Shane), Zach Greenburg, Sierra Vice, Dana Cooper (Luke), and Jody Vice. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Curt was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Fran Stade, brother, Cliff Vice, son, George Gillespie, daughter, Dana Greenburg, and most recently twin baby great-granddaughters, Camryn and Carter Cooper.

A celebration of Curt's life will be held on October 26th at the home of Ron and Phylliss Fagg in Reno for family and close friends.
