Frances Dolores Walker, 90, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2016 surrounded by her loving family in Reno, NV. Dolores was born in Sparks, NV on August 30, 1925 to Lewis and Hazel LaVoy. She was one of eight children.
Dolores attended Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic School in Reno, NV and graduated from Sparks High School. It was there that she met her sweetheart, Bernard Cameron Walker. She then attended the University of Nevada, Reno. Dolores and Bernie married on June 25, 1946 and had six children. Together, they built a home in Crystal Bay, NV at Lake Tahoe.
As an extraordinary mother, Dolores taught her sons and daughters how to roller-skate, ice-skate, ski, swim, and water-ski. She was a proficient seamstress, cook, and gardener, all while tutoring her children throughout their educational careers. She was a devout Catholic whose love and honesty was apparent to all that knew her. She spent many years at St. Mary's Hospital as a Eucharistic Minister.
Dolores was an intellectual and an avid reader throughout her life. She truly enjoyed being a mother and loved being a grandmother to 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Dolores is survived by her sister, Rita (Joe) Bugica, and her six children, Chris (Linda) Walker, John (Stephanie) Walker, Lorie (Mark) Johnson, Cathy (Chris) McCune, Bernadette (Bill) Lassaline and Marianne (Dale) Munsterman.
On Thursday, June 9, 2016 there will be a Rosary at 10:30 A.M., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 A.M., at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, 1138 Wright St, Reno, Nevada.
