Sacramento, CA - Elizabeth Diane Collins Stewart, 48, passed away at her home in Sacramento, CA, on Monday, Sept. 4, 2018. Born on Feb. 9, 1970, in Lodi, CA, to John and Carolyn Collins, "Libby- was a graduate of McQueen High School in Reno, NV and a star student-athlete in softball, basketball, volleyball, and track. Her love of sports and the outdoors drew her to Hawaii, where she excelled at women's softball, earning a full-ride scholarship to Hawaii Pacific University. After graduating in 1992, she returned to the Reno/Sacramento area to be near her family and to work in the IT industry as a systems engineer and project manager with various firms. Her work allowed her to travel extensively around the world and she continued this love of travel and adventure for many years with family and friends. Married on October 6, 2007, she is survived by her husband, Patrick, her sister Jennifer Harvey, her brother Jason Collins, and nephew Reese Harvey, along with numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. A life-long Chicago Cubs and Tampa Bay Bucs fan, her love of sports and competition drew her to the outdoors, whether it was camping, fishing, baseball games or college football. A naturally caring person, she couldn't resist saving every stray dog she found, adopting and fostering several over the years. She was a wonderful and beautiful person who will be sorely missed. Family, friends, and others whose lives she touched are invited to attend her service at the George L. Klumpp Chapel of Flowers at 2691 Riverside Blvd in Sacramento, at 1pm on Friday, Sept. 28, to reminisce, grieve, and support one another, as well as celebrate her life.
