Reno - In loving memory of Jerome Mayer who was born September 28, 1940, in Alexandria, Minnesota, to Nannie and Alois. They moved to Marin County, California in 1942 where Jerry attended San Rafael High School, College of Marin, and Heald Engineering College.

He enlisted in the Marines in 1961 and served six years. Jerry was a mechanical engineer for Otis Elevator Company in San Francisco. He married Charleen Edgington, the precious love of his life. The family moved to Reno in 1975 where he continued as an elevator mechanic and then in 1991, he and his two sons started Commercial Elevator Company.

Jerry loved reading his history books, traveling the world, and visiting museums. Later in life he continued searching libraries for more historical books and spent a great deal of time at Lake Tahoe with his family. Reading, hiking, and walking his beloved family dogs were just a few of his favorite activities. Jerry was always eager to share his love of history and knowledge of the world with family and friends.

He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Charleen; sons, David and Scott; daughters, Renee and Terri; five grandchildren, Vivian, Ann, Daniel, Aaron and Adam and two great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at Tahoe Park Beach, 1700 Sequoia Avenue, Tahoe City, CA 96145.
