Margie Ellen Foote

December 23, 1929

August 29, 2012

Margie Ellen Foote found relief and comfort Wednesday 29, 2012. From her early childhood she was crippled by an infection, but through life she was able to pretty much keep up with the best of them. She was born December 23, 1929 and attended Sparks Schools and graduated from the University of Nevada. She taught school in Sparks as well as schools in California. In 1955 she opened The Carousel Shop on 10th Street and clothed many of the area children until 1974. She then worked at Harry's Business Machines, a business started by her father, until her retirement. In 1966 she entered politics and served the people of Sparks in the State Assembly and the Senate for 12 years.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Harry and Marie Foote. Margie is survived by her brother, Gordon Foote (Carolyn), her niece Lori Keller (Kevin) and Nephew Gary Foote (Jane)as well as Grand Nieces Alyssa and Jillian Keller, Amy and Erica Foote and Grand Nephew Trevor Foote.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Sparks United Methodist Church, 1231 Pyramid Way in Sparks at 3 PM on Friday Sep 7th. In lieu of flowers you are asked to make a contribution to The Sparks Heritage Museum at 820 Victorian Avenue, Sparks, NV 89431

Tenderly.... May time heal your sorrow,
Gently.... May friends ease your pain,
Softly... May peace replace heartache,
And may
Warmest memories remain.

Although I didn't know Margie but a few short months, she was a great lady to know. I'm pleased to have had the opportunity and privilege to be of help to her in some small way. I learned many things from her about the City of Sparks, we enjoyed discussing politics and just visiting in general. Margie, you will be greatly missed. God Bless You and Your Family.

Marge was a dear friend of our family and we all loved her very much. Many years at church listening to her children devotion and stories that adults learned more than the kids. Please give hugs to all her family.Kathy/Mike Stahlke and Don Genkinger and Amy /Monte Morrison

Margie was one of our favorite sisters in PEO Chapter I of Sparks. Our Chapter was chartered by her Mother Marie and both she and Margie were stalwart members and strong supporters. She will be missed tremendously by all in our chapter and by her many friends in other chapters. We will miss her quick wit and great sense of humor. We love you Margie and wish you and your family peace and love.

Margie was such a sweet lady. My mom used to stop by her shop when I was a baby. Then I had the great pleasure of working with her at Harry's Business Machines. She always had a smile on her face and was fun to talk too. I learned many things from her about our hometown of Sparks. She will be greatly missed by me and my family. Rest in Peace Margie.

A Sparks legend... I remember stopping by her shop as a child while shopping with my grandmother.
Always sweet and an absolute voice of reason and strength in state government.
A true community treasure.
