Mark C. Henderson Obituary
Mark C. Henderson

Palm Desert, CA - Mark C. Henderson, 64, of Palm Desert, California, passed away on August 1, 2018. Mark was born in Walnut Creek, California to Betty and Jim Henderson and grew up in Reno, Nevada after his family relocated there in 1958. His first job was working in the family business, Keystone Owl Rexall Drugstore. After graduating from Manogue High School, Mark attended Idaho State University thinking he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and become a pharmacist. But, the food industry caught his interest and passion, and he eventually made his way to Southern California where he owned his own restaurant and also managed several restaurants in the Palm Desert area. Mark was a great chef and enjoyed preparing and serving his specialty dishes. He had a wonderful wit and loved telling stories about people and personal experiences with a humorous slant and infectious laugh. He cared a lot about family and friends and enjoyed golfing in the Desert. Mark was sexually molested by a Catholic priest when he was a boy and that trauma never left him. While Mark obtained a monetary settlement from the Catholic Church when he was in his 50s, his life was forever broken when he was young. He is in a peaceful place now where the pain he carried throughout his life has gone. Mark is survived by his three sisters, Maureen Loftis, Linda Henderson, and Kathy Daugherty. His brother, Gary Henderson, died in 2013. Mark is also survived by his nieces and nephews who remember him fondly. His family requests that donations in his memory be made to SNAP (Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests) either through their website www.snap.nationbuilder.com/donate or their mailing address, SNAP, P.O. Box 56539, St. Louis, Missouri, 63156.
