Michael Ray Moran

- - Michael Ray Moran was born on December 2nd, 1946 and was found deceased in his home on August 2nd, 2018. Born in Reno, NV and raised in Loyalton, CA, graduating from Loyalton High School in 1964. He served in the US Army as a Communications Security Specialist and served in Vietnam. When he returned from his service, he joined the California State Police where he patrolled the Oroville, CA area. Always having a love for aviation, he became an air traffic controller, working both terminal radar control and control towers, in Chico, CA and in Reno, NV. That career came to an abrupt end when he was famously laid off by, then President, Ronald Reagan. His love for aviation continued and he began a career working for the Reno/Tahoe International Airport. He began as a dispatcher, but quickly rose through the ranks, to Airport Operations Officer, then retiring in 2009 as the Manager of Airside Operations/Communications. He, and his wife Michaelynne (Mickie) enjoyed their retirement traveling and spending time with family. Michael was preceded in death by his mother and father, Onetta and Raymond. He is survived by his wife Mickie, his sons, Sean and Patrick, and numerous step children and grandchildren. Local services have yet to be determined. He will, ultimately, be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
