Jacobson Robin

Newport, OR - Our community sadly lost a valued and loved member on Wednesday February 10, 2021 when Robin Jacobson passed away from her long battle with ovarian cancer. She will be fondly remembered as someone who spent her time enriching the lives of the youth in Newport. For many years she was a part of the educational community as an employee of Newport Middle School where her big heart, loving manner and affectionate personality created lasting memories for all of the students who crossed paths with her. Robin is survived by her friend and companion Bob Jacobson, their three daughters Toby Turner, Cory Willson, and Kaety Jacobson, their spouses and 8 grandchildren, her older brother John, and younger sister Heather. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she has interacted with, but none so much as her beloved grandchildren. They affectionately called her Grammy, and adored being showered by her love and gifts. Robin loved being a grandmother and will forever be missed. Those wishing to honor her life can make a donation to: Lincoln County Foundation, P.O. Box 622, Newport, Oregon 97365 where a scholarship has been created in her honor. Please note that the donation is for Robin.

Here's one of my favorite photos of my sister. Thinking of her everyday. This was taken in the mid 1990's.

I posted a rather long tribute to Robin the same day the more recent photo of her and I posted but, for some reason, Legacy did not put it online so....I will try again.

This is my sister, Robin Lee Hamilton Jacobson. She was born in SoCal in 1952 but lived in Reno from the time she was a toddler. She went to Mt. Rose Elementary School, BD Billinghurst Jr. High and Reno High School. I think she graduated in 1970.

She made many good friends during her time in Reno including Sarah High, Susan Springer, Linda Smart and Jan Locke. I'm sure all of these ladies have married names but other than Sarah I don't know them. She drove a baby blue VW Bug in those days. Many years later a man I worked with asked me if I was Robin Hamilton's little sister. When I told him I was he replied that he remembered Robin as being the most beautiful girl in school. I couldn't wait to call and make her day relating that story !

She met and married Lloyd Courtright in the early 70's and had two daughters (Toby and Cory). She moved to Oregon when that marriage ended in the late 70's. There she met Bob Jacobson and they were married in 1981 I think. They had a daughter as well (Kaety).

I will forever remember my sister for her love of being a mom and her ability focus on what really mattered. If I would give her a hard time about her house being messy and she would say " Yes, but my kids are happy". Thanks to her our family tree continues to grow.

I love you Robin Lee. So hard to say good-bye but I know we will see one another again one day. In the meantime, please give my love to Mom & Dad and Bobby. I miss you all so much.

I had the privilege of working with Robin at Newport Middle School for many years. She was one of the most compassionate individuals I have ever met. Her rapport with students and staff was beautiful. I always enjoyed her sense of humor and we had many laughs.

My thoughts are with Robin's family.
