Sally Cutler Overholser

Reno - Our world is a little less bright today. Sally Cutler Overholser, 48, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday July 7, 2018 after a three year battle with cancer. Her shining smile and personality will be greatly missed.

Sally was born on March 13, 1970 in Napa, California to Larry and Dilys Cutler. She graduated from Vintage High School in 1987. Sally attended the University of Nevada, Reno and graduated in 1993 with a dual Bachlor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. She later obtained her Master of Arts degree in Literacy in 1996 and was an elementary school teacher until 2007. In college she met the love of her life, Jason Overholser, and they married in 1998 in Napa. They began their life together in Sarasota, Florida. 2 years later they moved to the Central Valley of California. In 2001 Sally gave birth to their first child, Hailey. Two years later, they welcomed Collier. In 2003 she and her family returned to Reno and eventually had their third child, Chloe, in 2007. Sally was extremely proud to help start and run Optimum Physical Therapy with her husband.

Sally loved spending time with family and friends. Her true passion was watching her kids compete in sports and perform at various events. Sally loved summers on the water in the family boat and winters skiing on the slopes of Mt. Rose. Sally was a fantastic hostess and was always finding a reason to host parties and get togethers with friends. She was our sunshine.

Sally is survived by her husband Jason, daughters Hailey and Chloe, son Collier, her sister Tracey (Keller), brother-in-law Ed, and three nephews Thomas, Chris and Colton. Sally also leaves behind a loving family of cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends she considered family. Sally is preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Dilys Cutler and her mother-in-law Cheryl Weiant. The family wants to say a special thank you to Julie Simeoni for not only being a close friend, but for being Sally's 24/7 oncall nurse the past 3 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 15th at 2:00 at The Grove, 95 Foothill Road, Reno. In lieu of flowers, Sally requested that donations be made to support the Renown Health Hospice House. Checks can be made out and mailed to Renown Health Foundation at 245 E.
