Mike passed away after a short battle with cancer, Sunday, September 14th. Mike was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Fran and Bob Geenen, and grew up on the family ranch in Cocolalla. He attended high school at SHS, graduating in 1971. He became a butcher for a local grocery store, and then went to work framing homes for his older brother, Howard (LeNora), who preceded him in death in 1986. After his brother's death, Mike took over the business, American Framing, Inc. He married Debbie McGee and had a son, JJ in 1981.

Mike and Cheryl (Woolsey) moved to Reno NV in 1986. Mikey started his own business, Geenen Spa Service, then became a journeyman electrician and worked for several local and out of state businesses. Mike and Cheryl married in 2003. He loved his summer fishing/work trips to Alaska for Inlet Fish. He lived to be outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and horseman. He especially enjoyed judging the dogs for the Bay Area Bird Club, from his big red horse, Shack. Mike touched and was loved by everyone he came in contact with; he will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife Cheryl, Mom, brothers Bobby (Staci) and Mark (Connie), son JJ (Ali), sister-in law LeNora, and to his joy, a newborn granddaughter, Quinn, several nieces and nephews and too many friends to count.

A celebration of Mikey's life will be held at 1:00 pm, October 18th at 11681 Osage Drive, Reno. Another celebration will be held at 12 noon, Sept 27th, at 21 Neil Lane, Cocolalla Lake, ID, for Mikey's friends that can't make the Reno trip.
